Threat Intelligence Research Intern - Remote

Overview

The Cyber Threat Intelligence Research Intern at Nelnet will support the cyber threat intelligence program by conducting research, analysis, and dissemination of cyber threat insights to identify threats and their potential impacts.

• Support the cyber threat intelligence (CTI) program.
• Conduct research into cyber activities by threat actors.
• Analyze and catalog indicators of compromise (IOCs).
• Identify actionable cyber threats and trends.
• Contribute to internal briefings on cyber threat activity.
• Research new vulnerabilities impacting Nelnet's technology.
• Assist in producing cyber threat intelligence products.
• Support the enhancement of threat intelligence processes.
• Must be enrolled at the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
• Participate in the NCITE program.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a degree in relevant fields.
• Prior coursework or experience in cybersecurity or related fields.
• Ability to research and analyze information from multiple sources.
• Exposure to OSINT tools and threat feeds preferred.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Strong self-editing skills.
• Interest in social media or open-source intelligence analysis.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Functional knowledge of the MITRE ATT&CK Framework is a bonus.
• Regional interest in Russia, China, or the Middle East.
