Security Operations Center (SOC) Analyst - Remote

Overview

The Tier 1 – Security Operations Center (SOC) Analyst plays a foundational role in the organization’s cybersecurity defense strategy, responsible for monitoring, triaging, and escalating security alerts.

In Short

• Monitor and triage security alerts from various security tools.
• Perform initial investigation and classification of security events.
• Escalate confirmed or suspicious incidents to Tier 2 analysts.
• Assist in maintaining and tuning SIEM use cases and rules.
• Participate in threat hunting activities using predefined queries.
• Document findings and contribute to knowledge base articles.
• Support incident response by gathering relevant data.
• Stay current on emerging threats and vulnerabilities.
• Work in a 24/7 or rotating shift environment.
• Engage with AI/ML applications in cybersecurity.

Requirements

• 1–3 years of experience in cybersecurity or IT support.
• Familiarity with SIEM platforms like Splunk or Google SecOps.
• Basic understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP).
• Exposure to cybersecurity concepts such as malware and phishing.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Willingness to work in a 24/7 environment.
• Preferred: CompTIA Security+, GSEC, or equivalent certification.
• Exposure to scripting or automation (e.g., Python, PowerShell).
• Understanding of MITRE ATT&CK framework.
