Bond Accountant - Remote

Overview

The Bond Accountant position is responsible for reviewing and reconciling all purchases and tracking spending related to capital projects, ensuring compliance with bond obligations, and managing the University’s capital projects and IT agreements.

In Short

• Reconcile capital expenditure subsidiary ledgers and asset listings.
• Manage State-funded capital project draws.
• Analyze operating vs capital leases under GASB standards.
• Review and reconcile bond obligations with the General Ledger.
• Approve invoices and encumbrance documents for capital projects.
• Monitor hedging derivative instruments and compliance.
• Calculate and compose State exhibits for fixed assets and bonds.
• Serve as backup for Fixed Asset Accountant duties.
• Explain regulations to auditors.
• Implement new procedures for bond management.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, finance, or related field.
• Experience with integrated financial systems like Workday.
• 2 years of professional accounting experience.
• 2 years of experience in reconciliations.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Ability to interact with departments and stakeholders.
• Experience in multi-tasking and problem-solving.
• Preferred: Experience with accounting standards in a professional setting.
• Preferred: Workday Finance experience.
• Preferred: Experience in Higher Education.
