Overview

Join our photonics testing team and help shape the future of high-speed optical technology. We’re looking for a hands-on Mechanical Engineer with a strong focus on mechanical design, prototyping, and assembly of custom test equipment. In this role, you’ll design and build the hardware that enables the characterization and qualification of next-generation photonic circuits.

In Short

  • Design and model mechanical parts and assemblies for automated test setups using CAD tools.
  • Translate mechanical and electro-optical test requirements into precise mechanical solutions.
  • Build and integrate electro-mechanical components for R&D and production testing.
  • Manage fabrication tasks with external manufacturers.
  • Support the debugging and calibration of automated test systems.
  • Maintain a clean and organized laboratory environment.
  • Contribute to lab upgrades and process optimization.
  • Hands-on work including soldering and assembling connectors.
  • Collaborate with R&D teams to improve test setups and lab efficiency.
  • Engage in continuous learning in cutting-edge R&D testing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline.
  • Strong experience in mechanical design and 3D modeling.
  • Familiarity with automated test equipment design.
  • Comfortable in R&D environments involving optics or electronics.
  • Knowledge of basic electronics and fabrication techniques is a plus.
  • Hands-on, practical mindset with strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Agile and adaptable in a fast-paced environment.
  • Collaborative with good English and basic German skills.
  • Motivated to engage with R&D testing and continuous learning.
