Overview

The Member Service Representative (MSR), Level 1, is part of the Member Service call center and outreach teams, ensuring quality customer service for union members enrolling in health plans and educating them about their benefits.

In Short

  • Handle incoming calls from plan participants and medical providers.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and support for health plan enrollment.
  • Document calls and inquiries accurately in the benefit administration system.
  • Maintain call center metrics and recommend improvements.
  • Educate members on eligibility and best practices for using benefits.
  • Process enrollment and provide accurate benefit information.
  • Work in a high call volume environment.
  • Participate in meetings and training sessions.
  • Handle Personal Identifiable Information (PII) and Protected Health Information (PHI).
  • Assist in special projects and manage multiple tasks.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 1-2 years of customer service experience in healthcare.
  • Ability to type 35 words per minute accurately.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical mindset and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Bilingual skills preferred.
  • Experience with project management software (Smartsheet).
  • Knowledge of benefit administration systems is a plus.
