Assistant Controller - Remote

Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled, detail-oriented Senior Accountant / Assistant Controller to own critical accounting operations across revenue, inventory, payroll, and month-end close. This is a hands-on role for a finance professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, understands how transactions flow through systems, and can ensure accuracy from point of sale to financial statements.

In Short

• Reconcile and record daily revenue from POS platforms.
• Manage and reconcile credit card sales receivables and deposits.
• Prepare and file multi-state sales and use tax returns.
• Calculate and analyze Cost of Goods Sold.
• Lead key components of the month-end close process.
• Support external audit requests and prepare audit schedules.
• Maintain strong internal controls and documentation.
• Assist in developing scalable accounting policies and procedures.
• Improve accounting processes as the business grows.
• Ensure accurate revenue recognition in accordance with accounting standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong understanding of revenue recognition and payroll accounting.
• Experience with sales & use tax compliance across multiple jurisdictions.
• Advanced Excel skills; experience with accounting systems preferred.
• Ability to work independently and solve problems.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
