Freelancer Microsoft Azure Infrastructure & Cloud Architecture - Remote

Overview

This position involves replacing an existing on-premise data platform with a scalable, cloud-native solution based on Microsoft Azure as part of a modernization project in the energy sector.

In Short

• Design a scalable cloud architecture for real-time data processing using Microsoft Azure.
• Select appropriate Azure components (e.g., Event Hub, Functions, Data Explorer, Stream Analytics, Cosmos DB) and define their interactions.
• Build and configure the foundational Infrastructure-as-a-Service environment (network, subscriptions, resource groups, policies, access controls).
• Support the establishment of Data Ingestion Pipelines (real-time data streams, latency optimization, error handling).
• Develop security and access concepts (RBAC, Managed Identities, Encryption-at-Rest/In-Transit).
• Conduct a Proof of Concept to validate architectural assumptions (performance, scalability, cost framework).
• Document the architecture and provide handover recommendations to internal IT teams.

Requirements

• Solid practical experience with Microsoft Azure (especially Event Hub, Azure Functions, Stream Analytics, Data Explorer, Cosmos DB, Virtual Networks, Bastion, NSGs).
• Good knowledge in infrastructure architecture and automation (Azure Resource Manager, Terraform).
• Experience with event-driven and streaming architectures, as well as latency and scaling optimization.
• Familiarity with security and compliance requirements (e.g., GDPR, Cloud Security Best Practices).
• Experience in implementing PoCs and architecture blueprints.
• Analytical thinking and structured, independent working style.
• Desirable: Basic knowledge in time series data, IoT, or sensor data processing.
