Overview

The General Practitioner plays a vital role in leading and managing the delivery of primary healthcare services to immigration detainees within detention centres.

• Providing preventative health checks, immunisations, and health promotion.

• Managing chronic diseases and attending to day-to-day medical concerns.

Requirements

• Hold a medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) and have full registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
• Fellowship with the RACGP, ACRRM, or equivalent substantial clinical practice experience.
• Experience in telehealth is highly desirable.
• Capability in managing mental health and alcohol or other drug concerns.
• Knowledge and experience in managing public health issues, particularly communicable diseases.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Understanding of ethical considerations and confidentiality in healthcare delivery.
