Overview

The Senior Advisor to International Students and Scholars plays a critical role in supporting international students and scholars at Harvard University by providing immigration advising and developing programs that address their needs.

In Short

• Provide immigration advising for F-1 and J-1 visa holders.
• Develop and organize educational, social, and cultural activities for international students.
• Ensure compliance with U.S. immigration regulations.
• Serve as Designated School Official (DSO) and Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO).
• Mentor interns and oversee student employees.
• Respond to urgent immigration-related inquiries.
• Maintain accurate records in SEVIS.
• Collaborate with faculty and university administrators.
• Provide training for new advisors.
• Adapt to diverse cultural needs of students.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience.
• Experience with SEVIS and immigration documentation.
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Supervisory experience preferred.
• Knowledge of a foreign language is a plus.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
• Understanding of cultural diversity.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
