Overview

Handshake is hiring a Staff Machine Learning Engineer with a focus on Generative AI and Recommendations reporting to our Head of Core Relevance. In this role, you will work on tackling the goal of providing AI resources for our users on our platform.

In Short

• Lead a lean team of machine learning engineers and data scientists.
• Develop algorithms and Machine Learning systems for the Handshake marketplace.
• Collaborate with product managers to drive new user experiences.
• Set technical direction and shape engineering culture.
• Work on existing ML systems and drive marketplace metrics.
• Focus on Explainability, Fairness, and Quality in AI products.
• Mentor and coach peers in the Data organization.
• Drive alignment and make data-driven decisions.
• Build web-scale AI systems and feature stores.
• Communicate results effectively to senior leadership.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 4+ years of industry ML experience as TL or TLM.
• MS/Ph.D. in Machine Learning or related field preferred.
• 7+ years of industry ML experience preferred.
• Experience with recommendations, optimization, NLP, and deep learning.
• Experience with cloud services like GCP, AWS, or Azure.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Experience working with cross-functional teams.
