Accountant / Coordinator with a Focus on Finance (m/f/d) - Remote

Overview

We are an international human rights organization dedicated to protecting and promoting the rights of people in crisis areas. Our focus is on humanitarian aid, educational work, and political engagement. We are continuously growing and are looking for you as an Accountant to further optimize our financial processes and ensure that our resources are managed efficiently and transparently.

In Short

• Review, classification, and posting of ongoing business transactions.
• Accounting with DATEV, including maintenance of cost centers in our projects.
• Preparation of payment transactions via DATEV Unternehmen online.
• Support in project and organizational reporting and accounting preparation.
• Control of donations, invoicing, and travel expense reports.
• Collaboration with project teams in receipt verification.
• Preparation of the annual financial statements, especially account clarifications.

Requirements

• Completed training in accounting or a comparable qualification.
• At least 2-3 years of professional experience in financial accounting or a comparable field.
• Knowledge of DATEV or a high affinity for digital tools is an advantage.
• Structured, independent, and conscientious working style.
• Proficient with numbers and a good understanding of accounting processes.
• Fluent in German and knowledge of German tax law.
• A keen eye for detail and a natural discomfort with incorrect numbers.
• No hesitation in agile project contexts and non-profit structures.

Conditions

• Contract: Permanent (fixed-term employment possible), 6 months probation period.
• Working hours: 30-40 hours/week (from 20 hours/week only with relevant prior experience).
• Remote possible, but willingness for onboarding in Berlin and quarterly on-site meetings.
