Senior IBM iSeries Engineer - Remote

Overview

The Senior IBM iSeries Engineer is responsible for maintaining customer IBM i/iSeries environments and solving technical problems efficiently, while also planning and migrating customer systems.

In Short

• Maintain customer IBM i/iSeries environments.
• Plan and migrate customer systems using tape save/restore or software replication.
• Ensure proper handling of system backups.
• Respond to incidents and requests in a timely manner.
• Perform reporting functions as required.
• Maintain and configure the IBM i OS and Licensed Program Products.
• Install new software releases and manage customer timing/testing/implementation.
• Participate in technical infrastructure projects as the IBM i SME.
• Work independently with excellent communication skills.
• Document system processes and configurations.

Requirements

• 10+ years of IBM iSeries System Administration experience.
• Knowledge of i/OS systems from V5R4 to V7R3.
• Experience configuring LPARs and storage management.
• Understanding of TCP/IP configurations.
• Experience with software-based replication (MIMIX, iTera).
• Familiarity with BRMS backup solutions.
• Experience with OS upgrades and PTF deployment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently.
• Knowledge of automation and monitoring tools.
