Overview

The AVP, Actuarial Reinsurance is responsible for the oversight and management of evaluating reinsurance needs, and negotiating and implementing reinsurance solutions in alignment with the reinsurance business strategy.

In Short

  • Responsible for negotiating and/or developing new reinsurance arrangements.
  • Coordinate work with various departments including Legal, Valuation, and Financial Planning.
  • Finalize ongoing calculation of reserve credits and prepare settlement statements.
  • Determine risk transfer existence and manage associated documentation.
  • Review and verify accuracy of financial reports.
  • Execute and manage SOX controls for reinsurance processes.
  • Maintain relationships with key reinsurers and stay updated on industry changes.
  • Develop and modify reinsurance arrangements.
  • Prepare dashboards to inform management on reinsurance initiatives.
  • Actively participate in developing the Reinsurance business strategy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, or related field.
  • Attainment of FSA; experienced ASA considered.
  • Minimum of 10 years of actuarial experience.
  • Prior reinsurance experience preferred.
  • Modeling & Valuation experience is a plus.
  • Advanced knowledge of US Statutory Reserve calculations.
  • Familiarity with Bermuda and Cayman capital reserving regimes preferred.
