2D Motion Designer - YouTube Channel - Remote

Overview

We are looking for a skilled and creative 2D Motion Designer to join our visual storytelling team at Simpli / Fern. You’ll play a key role in shaping the visual identity of our explainers, video essays, and documentaries through clean, compelling motion graphics and animation.

In Short

• Create polished 2D animations, including maps, text animations, transitions, and data visualization.
• Stylize and enhance footage to ensure consistency with brand and story tone.
• Develop visual templates for recurring formats.
• Work with editors and producers to ensure seamless integration of motion graphics into final edits.
• Create assets that are adaptable across different platforms (e.g. social, web).
• Interpret scripts and storyboards into engaging visual sequences.
• Work closely with editors and the creative team to align visuals with editorial goals.
• Contribute ideas for visual metaphors, sequences, and storytelling formats.
• Maintain visual coherence and quality across projects.
• Collaborate in a fast-paced, creative environment.

Requirements

• Professional proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud, especially After Effects, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
• Strong aesthetic skills, with a solid grasp of composition, typography, and color theory.
• 3+ years of professional experience in motion design (ideally in explainers, video essays, or documentaries).
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Enthusiastic about visual storytelling and editorial content.
• Intermediate German language skills.
