Motion Designer - Remote

Overview

The People APP design team is seeking a Motion Designer. In this role, you will work closely with our Senior Creative Director and editorial leads to create animated content and video templates that will engage and delight our audience.

In Short

• Deliver polished animations that surprise, delight, and engage users under tight deadlines.
• Drive projects from concept to completion while collaborating with the Senior Creative Director and editorial stakeholders.
• Take ownership of assigned design projects and ensure smooth delivery of creative assets.
• Work alongside the Senior Creative Director to set the People App’s overall look and feel.
• Lead the creation of thoughtfully designed digital editorial content and motion templates.
• Collaborate to create and maintain motion guidelines for all brands.
• Participate in brainstorming and critique sessions to foster big picture thinking.
• Keep project management tickets up to date and communicate progress.
• Teach digital producers how to use motion templates as part of a larger design system.
• Help build and maintain a happy and creative culture within the design team.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and experience.
• 5-7 years as a motion designer.
• Strong motion graphics, typography, and editorial design skills.
• Strong understanding of narrative/storytelling, tone, and brand voice.
• Expert in Adobe Creative Suite (After Effects, Premiere, Illustrator, Photoshop).
• Proficient in Figma.
• Knowledge of video post-production practices including editing and compositing.
• Publishing industry experience.
• Self-motivated with strong attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills and a team player ready to work in a fast-paced environment.
