Data Scientist II - Underwriting - Remote

Overview

As a Sr. Data Scientist on the Underwriting team at Dave, you’ll focus on improving how we assess risk and extend credit, directly impacting loss reduction and equitable access to financial tools.

In Short

• Conduct analyses to evaluate underwriting strategies and reduce loss rates.
• Develop and iterate machine learning models for credit decisioning.
• Support research initiatives to enhance underwriting capabilities.
• Explore large datasets to uncover insights for credit risk decisions.
• Partner with Engineering and Product teams for model integration.
• Support A/B testing and experimentation initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field; MS or PhD is a plus.
• 2+ years of experience as a Data Scientist or Machine Learning Engineer.
• Experience applying machine learning to develop AI-driven solutions.
• Strong experience with Python, SQL, and machine learning libraries.
• Experience designing and interpreting experiments such as A/B tests.
• Good communication skills for presenting research and results.
• Curiosity and a collaborative mindset in fast-paced environments.
