Overview

The Newsletter Editor will take ownership of and produce the flagship email product for UpNorthNews, ensuring it delivers a blend of local news, political coverage, and lifestyle stories while driving subscriber growth and long-term engagement.

In Short

• Write and curate content for a flagship newsletter published five times a week.
• Work with leadership to market and grow subscriber lists.
• Utilize audience feedback and metrics to refine content strategy.
• Collaborate with the Social Marketing Strategist for multimedia content.
• Pitch and launch a new niche newsletter product.
• Develop distribution strategies to reach new audiences.
• Edit and publish various content types.
• Create graphics using Canva.
• Analyze audience data to optimize performance.
• Manage multiple editorial projects in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

• Experience in newsletter writing or production, ideally in a newsroom.
• Strong writing and editing skills with 3+ years of journalistic reporting.
• Familiarity with email analytics and performance metrics.
• Experience with email service providers like Mailchimp or Substack.
• Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
• Familiarity with tools for social content production.
• Strong grasp of AP style.
• Ability to manage multiple projects effectively.
