Medical Assistant - General Surgery - Remote

Overview

The Medical Assistant will perform routine clinical and administrative duties to support the general surgery department at Memorial Healthcare System.

• Perform administrative and clerical duties including scheduling and data entry.
• Review patient charts for imaging and pertinent information.
• Provide education and resources to patients.
• Monitor and communicate changes in patient conditions.
• Assist with patient assessments and treatments under supervision.
• Perform basic diagnostic procedures and specimen collection.
• Maintain equipment and medical supplies.
• Ensure Telehealth connectivity for appointments.
• Document patient care provided and follow up as necessary.
• Ensure an excellent patient experience through effective communication.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant or EMT program.
• BLS Certification from American Heart Association or Red Cross.
• Ability to work in a stressful environment.
• Effective communication and critical thinking skills.
• Six months of patient care experience preferred.
• Knowledge of disease processes and patient safety.
• Ability to perform patient assessments and document vital signs.
• Skills in problem-solving and responding to change.
• Competency in customer service and developing relationships.
• Ability to manage and facilitate patient communications.
