In Short

• Responsible for billing paper and electronic claims for primary and secondary payers.
• Completes timely and accurate billing ensuring all claims are submitted on the same day of receipt.
• Monitors outstanding accounts and applies late charges.
• Handles billing-related inquiries and prepares daily billing activity reports.
• Performs collection actions including contacting patients and correcting claims.
• Assists patients with payment arrangements and financial solutions.
• Maintains knowledge of coding practices and payer requirements.
• Documents payment records and issues as they occur.
• Ensures data security and adherence to HIPAA guidelines.
• Collaborates with team members to streamline processes.

Requirements

• Exceptional customer experience and proactive communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Knowledge of denial management and insurance rules.
• Experience in medical billing and collections.
• CPC/HIT certification required.
• Ability to solve practical problems and work with various variables.
• Experience in ophthalmology is preferred.
• Must have physical and cognitive skills to perform essential tasks.
• Education: Associate’s degree plus 2-5 years of experience in medical billing.
• Must be willing to obtain COPC certification within 3 months of hire.
