Technical Writer for HHS - Remote

Overview

cFocus Software seeks a Technical Writer to join our program supporting the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). This position is remote and requires the ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance.

In Short

• Develop, edit, and maintain cybersecurity and privacy policies and guidance documents.
• Edit and format RMF and A&A artifacts including SSPs, SARs, and SOPs.
• Support development of program plans and operational playbooks.
• Ensure documentation aligns with HHS, HRSA, NIST, and OMB standards.
• Maintain document version control and approval workflows.
• Support audits and external data calls through documentation preparation.
• Collaborate with technical staff to ensure accuracy.
• Develop cybersecurity communications including briefings and newsletters.
• Create executive-level presentations for leadership.
• Translate complex content into clear, concise language.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Technical Communication, English, IT, Cybersecurity, or related field.
• 5–7 years of experience in technical writing for federal IT or cybersecurity.
• Experience documenting cybersecurity and compliance programs.
• Knowledge of federal cybersecurity frameworks preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and collaboration tools.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
