Overview

The Center for Science in the Public Interest offers a paid internship program for students in undergraduate, graduate, law and medical schools, and we also consider postgraduates. These paid internships offer structured work experiences and an opportunity to gain substantial knowledge of the DEI and Employee Engagement ecosystem at CSPI.

In Short

  • Gain substantial knowledge of the DEI and Employee Engagement ecosystem at CSPI.
  • Participate in strategy development and analysis for staff survey results and related goal implementation.
  • Obtain general research and communication skills by working closely with experts.
  • Meet with staff at all levels to discuss career roles and paths.
  • Assess your own interests and skills.
  • Provide analytical assistance for staff survey data review.
  • Help develop strategies for actionizing survey results.
  • Assist in developing content for the DEI Digest and internal communications.
  • Monitor and present trends in available data.
  • Intern pay increases to $18.40/hour effective 7/1/2026.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a relevant undergraduate degree program.
  • Excellent research and writing skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and manage tasks.
  • Interest in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
  • Leadership or community engagement experience is a plus.

Benefits

  • Paid internship at $17.95/hour, increasing to $18.40/hour.
  • Two paid holidays (Juneteenth and Independence Day).
  • ½ day Fridays.
  • Up to two days of paid sick leave.
  • Remote work with the option to work from the DC office.
