Remote Behavioral Medical Director

Overview

This role involves directing and coordinating medical management and quality improvement functions, providing medical leadership for utilization management, and improving the quality and cost-effectiveness of care for members.

In Short

• Assist Chief Medical Director in medical management and quality improvement.
• Perform medical reviews for utilization and quality assurance.
• Support performance improvement initiatives for providers.
• Collaborate with clinical teams and providers on complex cases.
• Participate in provider network development and market expansion.
• Conduct rounds to assess care for high-risk patients.
• Develop and implement physician education on clinical issues.
• Review claims for medical necessity and payment appropriateness.
• Represent the business unit in medical philosophy discussions.
• Work weekends and holidays as needed.

Requirements

• Medical Doctor or Doctor of Osteopathy degree.
• Experience in Utilization Management preferred.
• Board certification by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
• Current Texas state license as an MD or DO.
• Experience with culturally diverse populations preferred.
• Coursework in Health Administration or related fields is advantageous.
