Overview

In this role, you will manage the team responsible for the software that manages access to all professional Ubuntu offerings, influencing its evolution and interacting with various teams and partners.

In Short

  • Build and lead a globally distributed team of engineers
  • Develop talent through coaching, mentoring, feedback and hands-on career development
  • Work with Product Management to define the vision and strategy for Ubuntu
  • Set and manage expectations with other engineering teams and stakeholders
  • Advocate and advance modern, agile software development practices
  • Grow a healthy, collaborative engineering culture
  • Participate in strong engineering process through code and architectural review
  • Engage with teams at Canonical and the open source community
  • Oversee the quality of the Ubuntu Server image family
  • Plan and deliver Ubuntu Server features

Requirements

  • Strong track record in developing and growing people
  • Knowledgeable and passionate about software development
  • 3+ years of experience in leading and managing software developers
  • Experience in an agile development environment
  • Bachelor’s or equivalent in Computer Science or similar
  • Strong written and verbal technical communication skills in English
  • Experience with a modern GNU/Linux distribution, preferably Debian or Ubuntu
  • Practical experience with cloud services like Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, or AWS
