In Short

  • Join the Canonical Kernel Team to work on the Linux kernel for Ubuntu.

  • Full-time position for recent graduates or early career professionals.
  • Work remotely with a focus on kernel-level software development.
  • Engage in optimizing solutions for key platforms.
  • Diagnose and resolve kernel issues reported by customers.
  • Submit and review kernel patches with maintainers.

Requirements

  • Background in software engineering.
  • Programming experience in C and/or Rust.
  • Familiarity with version control practices, ideally with git.
  • Understanding of operating system kernel fundamentals.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English.
  • Well-organized and motivated self-starter.
  • Willingness to travel twice a year for company events.
  • Interest in kernel-level software development.
  • Experience with Ubuntu/Debian/Snap packaging is a plus.
  • Strong grasp of device drivers and low-level system engineering.
