UX/UI Digital Design Lead - Remote

Overview

The UX/UI Digital Design Lead plays a central role in shaping user-centered digital solutions for the Office of Head Start’s IT-Aligned Management System (AMS) platform. This position is responsible for leading the visual, interaction, and service design strategies that inform the platform’s tools, workflows, and dashboards used by federal staff, reviewers, and grantees.

• Lead the design strategy across all digital components of the IT-AMS platform.
• Translate complex monitoring processes and data workflows into intuitive, user-friendly interfaces.
• Conduct or oversee user research, usability testing, and feedback analysis.
• Develop and maintain system-wide design standards and style guides.
• Ensure compliance with accessibility standards.
• Collaborate with product owners and developers to deliver user-centric features.
• Support development of dashboards and reporting tools.
• Champion human-centered design thinking.
• Perform other tasks as assigned by management.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in User Experience Design or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in user interface design.
• 2 years of experience in leading design teams.
• Proven experience in human-centered design practices.
• Strong portfolio of responsive, accessible designs.
• Familiarity with U.S. Web Design System.
• Proficiency in design tools like Figma and Adobe XD.
• Experience with usability testing and user research.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills.
• Understanding of front-end technologies is a plus.
