In Short

• Join BayLegal's Economic Justice / Social Security Disability Advocacy Practice Team.
• Represent clients in claims for Social Security disability benefits and Supplemental Security Income (SSI).
• Conduct regular outreach at city shelters and travel within the city.
• Assist clients with accessing various public benefits programs.
• Engage in impact advocacy to remove barriers for clients.
• Collaborate with public and private community partners.
• Provide workshops on economic justice and disability advocacy.
• Document client services in compliance with funding requirements.
• Work collaboratively with other attorneys in BayLegal.
• Participate in tasks that further BayLegal's mission.

Requirements

• Member of the CA Bar in good standing or eligible to practice in California.
• Commitment to comply with California Rules of Professional Conduct.
• Proficiency in necessary technological equipment and software.
• Humility in working with diverse individuals.
• Desire to work with low-income and unhoused individuals.
• Willingness to travel to meet clients in the community.
• Experience with government benefits programs preferred.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Excellent writing and editing skills.
• Strong oral advocacy and interpersonal skills.
