Network Engineer - Remote

Overview

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Network Engineer Contractor to join our IT team, you will assist with the design, implementation, and maintenance of our organization's network infrastructure.

In Short

• 6 Month Contract (potential to extend)
• Remote – 2-3 days initial onsite for training in Richmond, VA
• Assist in the design and deployment of network infrastructure
• Maintain and troubleshoot routers, switches, and firewalls
• Support DNS, DHCP, and AAA systems
• Monitor network performance and resolve issues using diagnostic tools
• Contribute to network documentation and operational procedures
• Collaborate with team members for secure and efficient networking operations

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in a technical enterprise environment focused on network management and maintenance
• Solid understanding of networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and subnetting
• Hands-on experience with routers, switches, and firewalls (e.g., Cisco, Palo Alto)
• Knowledge of DNS and DHCP systems such as Infoblox
• Experience with AAA systems such as Cisco Client
• Familiarity with network monitoring and diagnostic tools (e.g., Wireshark, PRTG)
• Basic understanding of LAN/WAN environments and wireless technologies
• Knowledge of network security practices such as VPNs, access control, and firewalls
• Experience working with Windows and Linux operating systems in a networked environment
• Basic knowledge of cloud networking (e.g., AWS, Azure) is a plus
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
• Willingness to learn and adapt in a dynamic environment
