Staff Accountant - Remote

Are you a detail-oriented accounting professional looking for a remote opportunity with a mission-driven organization? APA - The Engineered Wood Association is seeking a Staff Accountant to join our Finance & Administrative Services team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in maintaining financial records, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards--all while working from the comfort of your own home.

In Short

• Prepare journal entries and reconcile general ledger accounts.
• Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
• Perform account reconciliations, including bank statements, A/P, A/R and prepaid expenses.
• Support financial reporting and compliance with GAAP.
• Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
• Contribute to audits by preparing supporting documentation.
• Identify process improvements and enhance financial controls.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance or a related field.
• 1-3 years in accounting (internships or entry level roles considered).
• Proficiency in accounting software, Microsoft Excel, and financial analysis.
• Detail-oriented, organized, and eager to learn.
• Bonus Points: CPA certification (or working toward it) and experience with ERP systems.
• Experience with Business Central, Expensify and Bill.com.
• Non-profit experience with grant management, reporting, and compliance also a plus.
