Overview

The Legal Support Attorney will serve as a national resource for attorneys engaged in pro bono immigration representation, focusing on detained immigrants and providing mentorship and legal guidance.

In Short

• Provide legal guidance and technical support to pro bono attorneys.
• Mentor volunteers in bond, parole, and defensive asylum cases.
• Conduct case reviews and offer feedback for quality representation.
• Maintain and update training materials on the Campaign’s website.
• Respond to inquiries from the Campaign network.
• Stay updated on relevant laws and best practices.
• Occasionally represent clients as needed.
• Ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards.
• Track and report on pro bono activities.
• Assist in grant reporting for pro bono initiatives.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor with 3+ years of immigration law experience.
• Experience representing detained clients in bond and merits proceedings.
• Familiarity with asylum and cancellation of removal cases.
• Experience providing training or mentorship is preferred.
• Ability to develop and deliver educational materials.
• Experience managing pro bono programs is preferred.
• Proficiency with legal case management systems is an asset.
• Background in nonprofit or legal aid organizations is preferred.
