Overview

The Technical Lead will play a key role in fostering a collaborative environment that promotes growth, respect, equity, and thought leadership within Winrock's Ecosystem Services Unit, focusing on climate change mitigation and adaptation.

In Short

  • Lead technical projects in the Ecosystem Services Unit.
  • Conduct GHG measurement and monitoring in forest systems.
  • Support carbon accounting and credit yield estimation for REDD+ projects.
  • Implement scientifically robust geospatial and remote sensing solutions.
  • Manage key projects ensuring high-quality deliverables.
  • Develop project work plans, budgets, and reports.
  • Provide training on methods and best practices.
  • Interact with clients and conduct qualitative analyses.
  • Prepare technical reports and presentations.
  • Fluency in Portuguese and/or Spanish is required.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in environmental science or related fields; PhD preferred.
  • 5-7 years of experience in GHG accounting and ecosystem services.
  • Extensive knowledge of GIS software (ArcGIS, QGIS).
  • Proficiency in R/Python and Google Earth Engine.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage client relationships effectively.
  • Willingness to travel internationally.
  • Experience in developing countries preferred.
  • Knowledge of REDD+ standards and projects.
  • Strong problem-solving and teamwork skills.
