Inventory Controller - Remote

Overview

We are seeking a proactive and experienced Inventory Controller to lead the setup and optimization of inventory management systems and practices at a remote mining operation in Southern Africa. This is a hands-on role requiring deep technical knowledge, strategic thinking, and the ability to coach and uplift local teams.

In Short

• Design and implement robust inventory control systems tailored to mining operations.
• Standardize and enhance item coding and develop accurate technical descriptions.
• Identify and eliminate redundant or obsolete stock.
• Develop Bills of Materials (BoMs) for critical assets and equipment.
• Initiate and manage Material Requirements Planning (MRP) processes.
• Audit current practices and recommend improvements.
• Balance availability with cost-efficiency in inventory optimization.
• Train warehouse and procurement personnel on best practices.
• Ensure ongoing communication with management and stakeholders.
• Adhere to safety, legal, and company policies.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years experience in inventory control, preferably in mining or heavy industry.
• Strong understanding of ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Pronto, Oracle).
• Proven experience in setting up inventory systems from scratch.
• Technical aptitude in mechanical/electrical components and mining equipment.
• Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently in remote and challenging environments.
• Strong interpersonal and coaching skills.
• Fluent in English.
