Senior Shopify Developer (Apps + Themes + AI Workflow) - Remote

Overview

We’re a German company running multiple Shopify projects (apps, themes, and store setups). We’re hiring a Senior Shopify Developer who can take ownership and deliver fast — especially on Shopify app development — while also being strong on theme work and using AI tools (Cursor, etc.) as part of the daily workflow.

In Short

• Shopify App Development (main focus)
• Build and maintain Shopify apps (embedded admin apps + backend services)
• Work with Shopify Admin GraphQL, webhooks, app proxy, metafields/metaobjects
• Implement auth, data sync, background jobs, and integrations (APIs, SFTP, PDFs, etc.)
• Debug production issues end-to-end and ship fixes with clean PRs
• Shopify Theme Development
• Implement and extend themes (Liquid, sections/blocks, JSON templates, Dawn patterns)
• Build storefront features with JavaScript (cart behavior, UI logic, performance)
• Integrate app outputs into storefront (theme app extensions, scripts, blocks)
• Use AI for debugging and testing — without lowering code quality

Requirements

• Senior Shopify app development experience (real projects, not “installed apps”)
• Comfortable with: Node.js, Shopify CLI, Admin GraphQL, webhooks
• Bonus: Remix/React + Polaris, Prisma/SQLite
• Strong Shopify theme development
• Liquid, sections/blocks, JSON templates, JS storefront work
• Strong AI workflow
• Can develop efficiently with Cursor (or similar), and still keep quality high
• Self-managed + disciplined: You communicate daily, unblock yourself, and finish tasks without being pushed
