Overview

The Certified Outpatient Coding Specialist is responsible for coding and abstracting patient medical information according to established coding conventions and guidelines, ensuring accuracy and compliance in health information management.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of coding experience in acute care.
  • Knowledge of ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 coding conventions.
  • Experience with EPIC and 3M encoding systems preferred.
  • RHIA, RHIT, CCS, or CPC credentials preferred.
  • Ability to maintain productivity and accuracy standards.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Willingness to participate in ongoing education.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills.
  • Must complete credentialing within three years if not already certified.
