Billing Specialist - Remote

Overview

This position will ensure timely payment for medical services rendered, by providing accurate flow of billing information and patient data between providers, patients, and third-party payers.

In Short

• Coordinate and evaluate medical billing and collection activities
• Monitor patient accounts
• Process claims for reimbursement
• Ensure collections are accurate and up to date
• Work payer remittance advices and accurately post payments and denials
• Work through denied charges with insurance companies
• Enter charges into electronic patient accounts
• Verify accuracy and completeness of claims prior to submission
• Utilize monthly aging accounts receivable reports to follow up on unpaid claims
• Respond to patient inquiries using excellent customer service skills

Requirements

• Ability to read and interpret documents
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
• Ability to speak effectively with customers, vendors, and employees
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages
• Ability to work with dates, rates, and taxes
• Prior experience with EHR preferred
• No certifications needed
• Ability to concentrate and solve practical problems
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions
