Senior Server Engineer - Remote

Overview

We're a small, gaming start up in Finland, looking for an experienced server engineer to own the backend infrastructure and live service systems for our upcoming mobile adventure game, built in Unreal Engine.

In Short

• Architect backend infrastructure and own implementation.
• Design and implement backend for player progression and live service needs.
• Implement LiveOps infrastructure for events and content updates.
• Set up analytics pipelines and event tracking.
• Support DevOps, CI/CD, and build pipelines.
• Collaborate with client engineers and designers.

Requirements

• 6+ years in game development with backend experience.
• Shipped at least one live service game.
• Strong understanding of client-server architecture.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure and backend services.
• Proficiency in backend-relevant languages (C++, C#, Python).
• Ability to work independently and make architectural decisions.
• Good judgment about trade-offs in solutions.
• Strong communication skills.
• Comfortable with ambiguity and proactive.
• Familiarity with server-side optimization.
