Hello, we are PHONT, a young startup on a mission to bring subtitles to life. We use AI to capture tone, emotion and tempo of speech, and turn those cues into animated subtitles – so every viewer can feel the story, even with the sound off. Backed by recent funding, we’re building the next generation of subtitle technology at the intersection of media and tech.

We’re looking for a Senior Fullstack Engineer with a front-end focus to join as one of our first team members. You will own our front-end codebase and the glue to our audio-analysis backend. This is a high-impact lead engineer position – ideal for someone who loves to mix cutting-edge frontend development with backend and infra.

In Short

Lead Frontend Development: Migrate our prototype frontends into a production-grade Next.js 14 app.
Build Real-Time Features: Develop a type-safe API (tRPC/REST/GraphQL) to interface with our Python audio analysis engine.
Creative Prototyping: Work with our design/ML team to build emotion-driven subtitle animations.
DevOps & Quality: Set up CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and infrastructure-as-code.
Tech Leadership: Establish coding standards and best practices.

Requirements

Frontend Expertise: 3+ years building modern web applications with React.js, Next.js and TypeScript.
Full-Stack Know-How: Comfortable writing backend logic for APIs and working with databases.
Creative Coding Mindset: Passion for visual polish and creative coding.
Ownership & Drive: Experience migrating prototypes to production.
Quality Focus: Write clean, maintainable code.
Team Player: Excellent communicator, able to work closely with non-technical colleagues.
