Overview

The Lead Auditor (Medicare) is responsible for coordinating and completing audit reviews, mentoring staff, and assisting in risk management activities. This role can be performed remotely or at the Birmingham, AL location.

In Short

  • Coordinate and complete audit reviews.
  • Review audit work papers and reports.
  • Mentor and coach department staff.
  • Assist with workflow direction for risk management activities.
  • Plan and execute audits in accordance with professional standards.
  • Communicate audit status and results to management.
  • Prepare formal written work papers and reports.
  • Ensure audits are completed in accordance with GAAP and auditing standards.
  • Direct day-to-day efforts of audit staff.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • 7 years of auditing or accounting experience.
  • 1 year of experience leading audits.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Knowledge of auditing standards and practices.
  • Strong planning and organization skills.
  • Experience with Medicare audits preferred.
  • Certifications such as CIA, CPA, or CISA preferred.
