Overview

The Security Officer enforces Nantucket Cottage Hospital rules/regulations and provides a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and employees.

In Short

• Temporary summer position, 40 hours per week.
• Patrols assigned areas for safety and security.
• Investigates complaints and potential criminal conduct.
• Prepares and submits written reports of incidents.
• Maintains accountability for valuables and evidence.
• Responds to medical emergencies and assists in restraint if necessary.
• Utilizes integrated security systems for dispatching personnel.
• Participates in departmental committees and maintains training records.
• Locks/unlocks doors and performs security rounds.
• Communicates effectively with individuals of diverse backgrounds.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• BLS/CPR certification required within one week of hire.
• 3-5 years security experience preferred.
• Strong observational and communication skills.
• Ability to handle diverse and stressful situations.
• Must have a current and valid driver’s license.
• Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
• Must be available to work in case of a Hospital declared emergency.
• Position specific trainings required.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and in teams.
