Spacecraft Structures Analyst - Remote

Overview

Muon seeks an experienced Structures and Dynamics Analysis and Test Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate can go deep on design and analysis but also has a “systems mindset” and will be a force multiplier collaborating with other disciplines to arrive at an elegant, well-balanced design. Being an early-stage startup with a small team, breadth is extremely important and we expect this person to dive into structural data, dynamics, thermal design, supplier management and everything else associated with the full lifecycle of an electromechanical product.

• Full lifecycle ownership of structures from quick-and-dirty early analysis for conceptual design to detailed finite element modeling.
• Conduct linear and nonlinear simulations, multibody dynamics, and fatigue analysis.
• Make economically sound choices while balancing rapid capability demonstration and system deployment.
• Create quick concepts and models for early program phases.
• Establish engineering standards and tools to foster a culture of rigor in mechanical design.
• Define and drive mechanical/structural validation and test approaches.
• Plan and execute post-test analysis for system-level and component tests.
• Leadership opportunities in team growth and mentoring.
• Occasional travel required for on-site tests.

Requirements

• Extensive experience with finite element analyses for aerospace systems (FEMAP, ANSYS).
• Experience in designing and executing structural tests for spacecraft.
• B.S. or higher in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
• Proven experience as a structural analyst.
• Experience with hardware designed for aerospace or similar environments.
• Proficiency in programming languages like Python, Matlab, C, or C++.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Curiosity and dedication to data-driven conclusions.
• Excitement for a fast-paced work environment.
• Willingness to travel for on-site tests.
