Biologist/Project Coordinator - Remote

Overview

HELIX Environmental Planning, Inc. is seeking a motivated entry-level biologist with critical thinking skills to join our Southern California Team.

In Short

• Entry-level position providing support to the biology team.
• Conduct terrestrial biological monitoring for construction/restoration projects.
• Conduct surveys, including vegetation mapping and focused species surveys.
• Manage personal workload and coordinate with Project Managers.
• Maintain accurate field notes, project files, and work logs.
• Provide high-quality work products on schedule and within budget.
• Assist in project coordination and permit application efforts.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills are essential.
• Strong analytical skills and adaptability to changing circumstances.
• Full-time position with a hybrid work schedule.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, ecology, or related field.
• One year of experience related to terrestrial biology.
• Experience with Southern California terrestrial flora and fauna.
• Field data collection methods and equipment experience.
• Experience maintaining accurate project files and logs.
• Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to hike long distances over varying terrain.
• Valid California Driver’s License.
• Experience at an environmental consulting firm is a plus.
• Familiarity with survey permits and biological monitoring reports is a plus.
