Working Student / Intern in Prototyping & UX Design - Remote

Overview

HappyOps is a Munich-based software startup that supports medium-sized factories in their digital transformation. Our clients come from industries such as glass, metal processing, or lighting manufacturing – often specialized, highly individual niche manufacturers with complex production processes.

Together with them, we develop digital solutions that solve real problems on the shop floor: With Agentic AI, interactive dashboards, assistance systems, and data-driven tools, we help make processes more efficient, compensate for skilled labor shortages, and make the workplace in production more attractive.

Our approach combines modern software architecture with AI models (e.g., LLMs, GPTs), deep production understanding, and a clear focus on people. We are a small, pragmatic team that works technology-driven – but always with a view on the concrete added value for our users in the factory.

As a working student in Automation & AI, you are not just making coffee; you will work closely with the founding team and our clients on concrete tasks – with a direct impact on what will later actually land in the product.

In Short

• You translate customer requirements from meetings, calls, or documents into clickable Figma prototypes.
• You design user flows, layouts, and interactions for production applications – pragmatic but precise.
• You work closely with the founding team and actively participate in customer discussions to gather early feedback.
• You develop wireframes and interactive mockups that serve as a basis for later product developments.
• You bring a UX perspective into technical processes – understandable, visual, and actionable.
• You experiment with modern toolchains and design systems (Figma, Notion, Miro, etc.) to make ideas tangible.

Requirements

• You are a registered student in the field of computer science, business informatics, design, product management, mechanical engineering, or comparable at a university in Munich.
• You speak fluent German and English.
• You are strong in visualizing ideas and can confidently use Figma – including components, auto-layout & prototyping.
• You are interested in UX, digital product development, and the transfer of requirements into solutions.
• You think critically, ask questions, and enjoy working where technology, user needs, and business value intersect.
• You work independently, structured, and want to create real solutions, not just deliver designs.
