Finance and Operations Manager - Remote

Overview

Groundwork USA seeks a Finance and Operations Manager to work side by side with the Director of Network Organizational Health in supporting Groundwork Affiliates with bookkeeping and operations. This role will serve as a point of contact for Affiliate finance and HR staff.

In Short

• Manage month-end and year-end close processes, including bank reconciliations and journal entries.
• Prepare accurate financial reports for the Executive Director and board of directors.
• Ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting standards (GAAP).
• Manage invoicing and reporting for subawards and other grants.
• Enhance HR functions for Affiliates.
• Assist with payroll coordination and timesheet management.
• Provide training and resources for Affiliate staff on financial and operational best practices.
• Collaborate with the Network Support and Learning team for capacity building.
• Support updates to employee handbooks and internal procedures.
• Commitment to Groundwork’s mission and values.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or 5 years of experience in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
• Strong knowledge of nonprofit accounting principles (GAAP).
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in nonprofit finance and operations.
• Proficiency in accounting and payroll software, especially QuickBooks.
• Excellent attention to detail and communication skills.
• Working knowledge of human resources functions.
• Experience with federal grant compliance.
• Strong relationship-building skills.
• Experience training staff across organizations.
• Collaborative mindset with a solutions-oriented approach.
