Overview

This position is responsible for investigation, inspection, and settlement of assigned losses. This position is also responsible for providing outside field property claims inspection service as directed by inside claims representatives, and adjusting and settling claims for all lines of business written by the company with settlement authority up to $30,000.

In Short

  • Handle claims according to company guidelines and in compliance with the Unfair Claims Practices Act.
  • Investigate claims assigned, including taking photos and writing estimates.
  • Verify policy coverage on assigned losses.
  • Pursue subrogation and third-party liability contribution.
  • Conduct physical inspections of property loss sites.
  • Evaluate claim information for payment or denial.
  • Notify Property Claim Manager of claims exceeding $30,000.
  • Establish and maintain reserves on assigned claims.
  • Attend claims seminars and participate in claims associations.
  • Remain available to service claims after normal business hours.

Requirements

  • Five to ten years’ Property and Casualty claims experience.
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with company computer systems.
  • Proficiency in the Xactimate estimating platform preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record required.
  • Ability to perform physical inspections of property loss sites.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and travel as needed.
