Overview

This position is responsible for investigation, inspection, and settlement of assigned losses. This position is also responsible for providing outside field property claims inspection service as directed by inside claims representatives and adjusting and settling claims for all lines of business written by the company.

In Short

  • Handle claims according to company guidelines and in compliance with the Unfair Claims Practices Act.
  • Investigate claims assigned, including taking photos and writing estimates.
  • Verify policy coverage on assigned losses.
  • Pursue subrogation and third-party liability contribution.
  • Conduct physical inspections of property loss sites.
  • Evaluate claim information for payment or denial decisions.
  • Notify Property Claim Manager of claims exceeding $50,000.
  • Attend claims seminars and insurance-related meetings.
  • Assist in arbitrations and hearings as needed.
  • Maintain knowledge in loss control practices through continuing education.

Requirements

  • High school education required.
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills required.
  • Ability to work remotely and independently required.
  • Proficiency in Bluebook estimating platform preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and provision of own vehicle required.
  • Ability to perform physical inspections and carry work materials.
  • Knowledge of construction and farming practices required.
  • Ability to evaluate risk for insurance-to-value required.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills required.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and travel required.
