Overview

This is an excellent opportunity to join the NY Commercial Underwriting Department in a leading Title Insurance Company. As the NY Commercial Counsel, you will work in conjunction with our Commercial Coordinators and underwriters. The primary location is in New York, NY with hybrid/remote options available.

In Short

• Provides timely answers to title underwriting and escrow issues.
• Works closely with sales manager and staff to develop new business.
• Develops client-focused presentations on industry topics.
• Reviews and negotiates Indemnity and Escrow Funding Agreements.
• Collaborates with other offices to discuss legal issues on shared transactions.
• Leverages title production platform for commitment construction and revisions.
• Monitors and assigns work tasks for team productivity.
• Reviews surveys and drafts responses to title objection letters.
• Provides assistance to Agency's title counsel in underwriting transactions.
• Prepares settlement statements and disbursement requests.

Requirements

• 5+ years of commercial real estate title review and underwriting experience.
• 2+ years of commercial real estate transactional experience as an attorney.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficient in modern title production systems and technology.
• Ability to meet deadlines under pressure.
• Exceptional organizational skills.
• Willingness to meet commercial customer demands.
• Proficient in MS Office.
