Overview

The Vascular Access Team Registered Nurse works collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to provide advanced IV access care for patients, ensuring quality and safety in a critical care environment.

In Short

  • Inserts Ultrasound Guided IVs, PICC lines, and Midline catheters.
  • Requires critical care experience.
  • Must obtain Vascular Access Board Certification within 2 years.
  • Monitors and maintains vascular access devices for adult inpatient units.
  • Acts as a resource for medical and nursing staff regarding vascular access.
  • Participates in quality improvement activities related to IV access.
  • Maintains knowledge of new advances in IV therapy.
  • Performs dressing changes and assists staff as needed.
  • Provides professional nursing care under the direction of the Nurse Leader.
  • Works part-time with variable shifts.

Requirements

  • Associates in Nursing required; Bachelor's in Nursing required within 5 years.
  • MI Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon hire.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required within 6 months.
  • 2 years of relevant clinical experience preferred.
  • External candidates need at least 15 months of clinical experience.
  • Must successfully complete a competency assessment.
  • Internal candidates with less than 2 years of experience need a letter of recommendation.
