Overview

The HVAC Technician is responsible for maintaining and repairing refrigeration, air conditioning, and mechanical systems in a hospital setting, ensuring optimal performance and compliance with safety standards.

  • Installs, maintains, and repairs HVAC and mechanical systems.
  • Diagnoses problems and performs preventive maintenance.
  • Services air conditioning and refrigeration systems.
  • Maintains records of service and repair activities.
  • Works with various HVAC components, including chillers and pumps.
  • Reads and interprets blueprints and schematics.
  • Performs test and balance work for HVAC systems.
  • Completes necessary repairs and replaces defective parts.
  • Collaborates with other departments as needed.
  • Follows safety standards and regulations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Completion of a vocational training program.
  • 3 years of relevant HVAC experience.
  • General knowledge of welding, soldering, and basic electronics.
  • Knowledge of refrigeration principles.
  • Ability to read blueprints and schematic drawings.
  • Valid driver's license in the State of Michigan.
  • Preferred: Mechanical Contractor License in Michigan.
  • Preferred: Refrigerant Recovery and Recycling Certification.
