Staff Attorney - Remote

Overview

The Staff Attorney leads the Legal Department to support the Tribal Executive branch by offering proactive counseling and advice; drafting and review of legal documents; and representing the Tribal Administration in problem-solving, negotiation, and litigation.

In Short

• Advise Tribal administration on legal issues.
• Assist in complying with contracting processes.
• Represent Tribal administration in various courts.

• Provide legal assistance in personnel policies and grievances.
• Maintain knowledge of statutes affecting Tribal activities.
• Interpret laws applicable to Tribal programs.
• Supervise legal department personnel.
• Develop departmental budget and reports.
• Coordinate legal strategies with Tribal Attorney.

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited law school.
• Passage of the Oregon State Bar exam or reciprocity.
• Current membership in good standing in a State Bar Association.
• Experience in tribal program operations preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups.
• Organizational and project management skills.
• Must possess a valid Oregon State driver's license.
