Overview

As a founding Data Scientist at Cantina, you will lead personalization and recommendation efforts, shaping how data powers user interactions and social experiences.

In Short

• Lead personalization and recommendations for the Cantina app.
• Shape data-driven insights and models for user-bot interactions.
• Oversee the full lifecycle from data pipelining to modeling.
• Build and deploy ML models for real-time applications.
• Partner with product and engineering for user experiments.
• Drive user engagement and retention through insights.
• Build tools for explaining and debugging ML models.
• 5+ years of experience in data science, preferably in consumer tech.
• Exceptional SQL and Python skills required.
• Experience with experimentation and A/B testing.

Requirements

• 5+ years experience in data science, preferably in consumer tech or social platforms.
• Exceptional SQL skills with complex data structures.
• Skilled in Python and data science/ML tools (e.g., Pandas, scikit-learn, PyTorch).
• Experience with personalization, recommendation, or ranking models.
• Strong understanding of experimentation and A/B testing.
• Ability to build dashboards for executives.
• Comfortable with end-to-end analytics.
• Self-directed and action-oriented.
• Bonus: experience with user behavior modeling or fraud analytics.
