Accountant - Remote

Overview

The Boyce Thompson Arboretum is seeking an Accountant that is passionate about working for a nonprofit, loves the great outdoors and working with a dedicated team of people. The accountant reports to the Executive Director and is responsible for daily, weekly, and monthly accounting functions, such as accounts payable and receivable posting, deposit posting, cash management and payroll processing oversight.

In Short

• Manage accounts payable and receivable functions.
• Conduct banking and cash management activities.
• Oversee payroll processing with outsourced representatives.
• Assist in month-end and year-end close processes.
• Prepare financial reports and budgets.
• Collaborate with an outside consulting firm.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards and GAAP.
• Provide support to the Executive Director on financial activities.
• Work closely with HR on reporting needs.
• Participate in annual audit preparations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
• General accounting knowledge required.
• Experience with QuickBooks preferred.
• Minimum three years of accounting experience.
• Knowledge of nonprofit accounting preferred.
• Valid AZ Driver’s License required.
• Clean background and credit check required.
• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
